My other computer just crashed and I can't it boot so I decided to use my XP disc to try and repair the problem. When I hit "R" to repair or "enter" to go to set up I get error message: "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on this computer." I went into bios & the drive is recognized. It's a Western Digital SATA 74gb. WD740GD. I know it is functioning since Windows was "trying" to boot, but, when the Windows start up screen begins I see a brief blue screen with an error message and it starts the boot process over again.

Bruce - Welcome to the Board :)

Your problem lies in the fact that you have a SATA drive and XP does not generally have any SATA controller drivers included. SATA postdates the intro of XP.

You will need to make a SATA driver floppy from the motherboard CD - method generally outlined in the manual or download from the mobo manufacturer's website.

Boot from your XP install CD and press F6 when prompted ....
