I was having a problem with my computer restarting for no reason at all, after determining there were no viruses or spyware and I could not find any reason for this problem, I decided to do an in place reinstall.

When I did I got a message of a corrupt system file relating to Damon Tools and it would not continue with the install. I uninstalled Damon Tools and renamed the driver to old which allowed the reinstall to continue.

However, it has been stuck on installing windows with approx 33 min left for almost 7 hours. Is there a way to fix this or to stop the reinstall? I have restarted the computer several times and it picks up where it left off. Since I feel that I have corrected my problem by getting rid of the corrupt driver, how can I stop the reinstall? I really do not want to have to reformat and loose everything.

As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Thanks VBMark, I finally just let it finish installing losing all my data on my slave and master drive for the 5th time before I finally discovered that my RAM was bad which I assume caused all the problems in the 1st place. I had no idea that bad ram would also cause your slave drive to be wiped clean..... so why use a slave drive as a backup drive? Although there was data (and still is since I have not reformated the slave yet) windows shows this as unallocated space and says I have to format the drive (again losing all my backup information). I assume that it wiped out the partition. I tried connecting it to another computer using the external hard drive kit through a USB port and although windows detected it and ran the found new hardware wizard and told me my new device was ready to use, I couldn't find it anywhere in My Computer, which it should have been associated with a new drive letter, but it wasn't there.
Got so frustrated that I went and bought a Sony Vaio....... If interested you can see my posts on that!!!!!!!! :(
