    Hi,

Am trying to recover from a BOOT VOLUME UNMOUNTABLE error caused by a power outage. Am using a DELL XP Reinstallation CD BUT I just cant get the Recovery Console to become active after the Windows Set Up Page - i.e wont accept Enter, R or Exit?

    Any Ideas very welcome

    Regards

    Tony Randell

Is this an actual microsoft XP cd supplied by DELL , or is it the recovery image cd?
If it is the recovery cd, you have only the option to restore the PC.

It is apparently OEM XP from DELL - but we have decided to try and recover the HDD using another XP system and if that fails will have to buy a new HDD and reinstall XP

    Thanks for your response

Its the full XP - you wouldn't have made that far if it wasn't.
