I have the XP Pro and also have NAV on it currently. I have available the NIS 04 too from my using it from my old 98se desktop and have 6 months of sub left.(not downloaded yet on the laptop)

I am brand new to my new IBM T42 Laptop which had the XP pro and Norton AV already on it. So I really am very limited in knowledge of its capibilities or inadequacies.

So I need some honest practical advice. The XP Pro has the firewall. As does the NIS which also has additional features like pop up blockers, etc... Which software is over all the best to use? And why?

I was considering Zone Alarm---but after reading compatibilities problem with the SP2, I now have serious doubts and would rather use NIS or MS to aviod any problems.

    Thanks much,

    Alan :)

h2ofwlr--Windows XP Firewall monitors only incoming traffic, not outgoing. Most people therefore would recommend another firewall. I use ZoneAlarm. Others use Sygate and NIS. I think they are all good. (No problems with ZA on my WinXP, and the price is right.)
If you install another firewall, disable the Windows Firewall. Everyone agrees you should run only one firewall program.
Presume you visit Windows Update frequently and have all the recent Critical Updates.
P.S. Can't comment whether you can move NIS04 from one PC to another.
