What can one do if XP Pro for no known reason, just suddenly decides to forget your password. Went to boot and the OS does not recognize my password. Attempted to get in through safe mode and it, too, does not recognize my password. Any suggestions?

    Cap lock?

Is it on by mistake, or off?
Some XP passwords tend to be case-sensitive

    nope

No, the cap lock was not on. It just gets to the password screen, asks you to enter the password, and when you do, and I have done it in every way possible, it will not accept it.

Unless you have another account on the PC with administrative rights, you are pretty well stuck.

And if I understand what you are asking for correctly (a way to try to bypass the password) then you need to take a look at Rule 6.

A format/reinstall from the original CD will do the job for you but will destroy all existing apps, files and settings.
