I've had XP pro running with no problems for some time now, I removed XP beta trial in another partition and now the E:\> xp will not boot saying missing files.
I booted to the XP cd and hit "R" for repair and have done fixboot and fixmbr and chkdsk and still get the same thing.

Is there anyway of installing over my existing xp ?? or does it have SFC like w98 or something simple....i hate to re-format and install again since i had the way i wanted it.

Do another repair, but this time, don't choose the repair console. Allow it to automatically fix the problem. It will do an upgrade install over the top of your exisiting XP install.
