I just bought computer for home runnig XP pro and am having trouble dialing into work. When I dial the number the modem just keeps screaming and never logs me into the server at work. after a while it tells me the computer you are dialing did not respond, or something to that extent.
I have physically taken my home computer into my office, plugged the network cable into my computer and logged onto our network without any problem. I can see all other computers on the network when logged in at the office.

    Can someone please help me?

    Thanks

    Bill

You are talking about two different things here. connecting to your network via a NIC is totally different than connecting to it via modem.
Are you able to connect to an ISP or other network using your modem?
You might have a problem with your modem configuration if not.
Also some winmodems doe have difficulting connecting to older modems, so you may want to see if you have the latest drivers.
