I just upgraded from windows 2K to XP Professional and during the set up I read all about how It would make everything faster. Well everything is slower. Be It programs or the internet. Any suggestion to improve this?

Check the "system requirements" for Win XP. The "minimum" requirements are the minimum, you should have (almost) all of the "recommended" requirements at least. If not, it will only get slower with any more programs running.

Maybe some drivers problem. Better to install afresh AFTER taking backup.

It seems that the slowness is only when on the net. Example it took 2 minutes to load the BBS page. Graphics seem to be loading slowly and when contact is made with a site it dosen't show up until most of the page is loaded except for graphics.I'm using DSL and there is no problem using my wifes computer so it's not the DSL. Also when I shut down my computer I gets a pop up closing CCAPP, this is new, what is it?

    a stab in the dark...

    glohar,

I see you are using Norton A/V, are you using Norton Internet Security also? I had a major problem with the Norton firewall slowing down my cable internet connection when I first started using WinXP. If you are using the Norton firewall you may want to try a different firewall and see if your speed changes. Many offer a free trial, just be sure to disable the other.

I now disable my Norton Internet security or my e-mail won't down load. This was true in windows 2K also. How do I disable the fire wall?

    glohar,

You should be able to right-click on the firewall icon in the sys tray (by the clock),then on the menu that pops up select 'disable'. Make sure you are not connected to the internet without a firewall running (or you will have a different problem to deal with).
