Last night I wiped and reloaded my dualboot 98SE/XPPro machine.

After reloading I can get the 98 side to see the network but not the XP side.

There are three machines on the network right now.

    PC A: XP Pro
    PC B: 98 SE
PC C: 98SE/XP Pro (this is the problem child)

All are using NetBeui for File and Print Sharing.
All can connect to the Internet without issue
All are in the same workgroup 'Dungeon'
All are in the same subnet 255.255.255.0
All have the same gateway 192.168.1.1

But PC C cannot see A & B over the network nor can they see it.

Here's what's been done so far.

Removed and reinstalled NetBeui at least a dozen times
    Reloaded the NIC
    ICF is turned OFF
    No Firewalls enabled
NetBeui is bound to Client for M$ Networks and File and Printer Sharing
TCP/IP is boudn only to Client for M$ Networks
    Enabled simple file sharing
Logging on to XP machines with username and non-blank password.

The other XP machine has the exact same NIC so I tried emulating its protocol settings on this machine - no joy.

This has to be something insanely simple but it's driving me right up the wall.

Update: If I bind file and print sharing to TCP/IP on all machines then everything shows up as it should.

If I use only NetBeui for file and print sharing then were back to the same problem.

NetBEUI could care less about IP addresses, firewalls, gateways, or any of that IP-specific stuff. Doesn't even see any of it.

Have you given the dual boot system a different computer name in each OS? If not, do so.

    Yes I have:

To make it apparent on the network which OS the machine is currently in they are named Athlon98 and AthlonXP

I shall admit defeat on this one......

I rebound TCP/IP to file and print sharing on all the machines and removed NetBeui. All the machines can see each other now.

After fooling with this for several days - this has me beat. Since NetBeui is supposed to be such a simple and less complex protocol than TCP/IP I am bewildered as to why it won't work. I have consulted quite the plethora of networking guides to no avail.

Of course nowadays nothing suprises me anymore when it comes to computers.:D
