XP Media Center running very slowly

Hi, I have noticed that in the last week or so, my system is running very slowly, especially on opening programmes like MS Word, Excel etc. Has anybody else noticed this or is this a local issue (in other words... have I messed up somewhere)

I am running an HP Media Center M7240.UK PC with 1 Meg Ram and at least 130 Gig of free disc space...

The other possibility is what is affecting you is the last batch of MS updates which are causing lots of problems, especially for anyone running HP software. "About a week" sounds right, the updates occured 4/12.

There are varied threads on this - search (advanced search) for KB908531, that will bring up threads on this subject.
