I am running into a big problem, and hoping someone here can help me...

    Windows XP Home
    MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
    Athlon XP 1800+
    2x256MB DDR333 RAM

Everytime I click on any username on the welcome screen, or even type one in the classic logon, it flashes my desktop wallpaper for a split second, then shows the welcome screen again.

It will play the opening sound fine, then play the closing sound right after... by the end, I am back at the welcome screen, only being able to continue this loop, or shutdown.

I can logon in safe mode, but not with networking...

I have taken every piece of hardware out, tried a new stick of RAM, even shut down everything in BIOS, still no luck...

This machine was working great at home, but when I disconnected it, took it to my mother's house and set it up, It started doing this. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

Anything interesting in the event logs?

Have you tried a restore point before the problem started?

Welcome to the BBS board my fellow Fairbanksan:)
From control panel open USERS ACCOUNTS. Next menu uncheck "change the way users log on & off ". A menu may popup stated ya can'nt do this cuz of fast user switching" so click cancel & next menu uncheck "use welcome screen" apply/exit/ok reboot
