I'm just curious...is this normal for the Windows XP logo to pop up and appear very faint and then tale 2 to 3 steps fading in before the boot process continues? This is on a system with a fresh format/fresh install of XP Home.
I noticed it start doing this after loading the XP drivers for a SIIG controller card...I think. It could have been after loading ATI video drivers.

If this is not normal and signs of a potential things not being set right, please let me know!

I have seen quite a few systems that do this, but its not normal I dont think. At the same time tho, its not abnormal. Is your PC a lower end system? that may cause it. FYI though, the systems that this happend on were fine up until the day their owner scrapped em for newer hardware.

You have nothing to worry about - this is pretty common and is not a foreshadowing of any bad things to come - neither is it a sign of a low end system.

    ;)

I experienced the same problem with a couple of versions of the drivers for my Matrox G550 card - annoying, but not indicative of any problem. I rolled back the driver to the previous version - didn't need the fixes/enhancements as they related only to specifc games which I do not play.

By means not a low-end system, I think...
    P4 2.8 HT, ASUS P4S800 motherboard with 512MB
2 80gig HDs and a GIGABYTE RADEON 9200 (ati chip)

It just seems to be adding a few seconds to boot up and nothing else seen wrong....I guess I won't worry about it.

    Thanks for the replies.
