I have a Epson 980 printer and a digital camera connected via USB. Whenever I turn on the printer or plug in the camera with the computer running, XP locks up.
If I boot up with the printer on or the camera connected, it works fine. I also can turn off the printer and remove the camera without it locking up.

Have checked my mouse and keyboard setup (they are PS/2s) and also tried removing some recent hot fixes to see if they caused it.

NO conflicts in device manager and reinstalled both the printer drivers (new XP ones at that) and the digital camera software after XP loaded.

    Would apppreciate any help!

    Specs:
    PIII, 733 Mhz
    768M RAM
    Windows XP Home edition...replaced ME

Hi Keith - and Welcome :)

This sounds like a USB problem

Have you any other USB devices and are these working OK?

You might like to consider uninstalling the USB controllers under Device Manager, re-booting and letting Windows re-install them.
