i've been using a kvm switch for my laptop, and my desktop, both using win98. When i switched to XP (for both), the laptop wouldn't boot when hooked up through the KVM. The laptop boots fine with out hooking up/ through the kvm switch, but when it's hooked up, the boot stalls before the login screen. Any idea's on why the desktop works and the laptop doesn't?

I've had this problem when you try to boot one computer while working on the other. Try shutting everything off then power on the KVM (if it's a powered one). Then turn on each PC and let it boot completely with the KVM set to that PC. You could also try flipping the PC's around. Matbe the laptop doesn't like being in the second port.
