    Hi folks,

Im a newbie here with not much computer experience.

A big error has occured on my home computer system. I have a ZoneAlarm firewall and anti-virus software and spyware doctor running.

For the last few weeks i've been unable to update any of my programs. Be it AVG, Itunes, Spyware Doctor etc. When trying to connect to the appropriate update servers, the system states the server is unavailable.

When i looked at my Zone Alarm components control, i noticed the last component entry was \WINDWOWS\SYSTEM32\00006_.TMP .

I have not long installed IE 7 and have a wireless NetGear router.

Does anyone know of a way to get my programs to update? I'm pulling my hair out!!!

I have searched this forum to find similar threats but have not found any.

    Many Thanks,

    Edd

    Hi headhifi and welcome,

I suppose it might be an incompatibility problem with IE7 and ZoneAlarm. I have heard of none but you gotta start somewhere.

Try disabling ZA and just using the Windows firewall for a test. I presume you have it disabled (since it's not cool to run both at the same time) so you'll need to get it awakened. Since you're also behind a router, you are safe enough. Frankly, I get by with the Windows firewall alone but to each his own.
