    Hi.
I bought a new computer, which had XP home edition loaded onto its HD. However, I have an unopened copy of XP Professional which I would prefer to use; I was going to install XP Pro on another computer (but installed 2k instead), so I have this spare OS.

Is it possible to actually upgrade from Home Edition to Professional, or do you need a clean installation? It would be a pity to format the drive, as all the drivers, etc, are loaded.

    Help would be appreciated! :)

    Hello quakbal,

"Is it possible to actually upgrade from Home Edition to Professional "

The answer is an emphatic yes, especially since home is recent.

    Regards - charles

    Thank you

Thanks for the reply. So, I just stick my Windows XP Professional CD into the drive on my computer that is running XP Home, and it will ask me whether I want a fresh installation or whether I want to upgrade.
    Is that correct?
