Am looking at upgrading from Win 98 to XP.

Mostly the computer is used for (old and new) games and web surfing - and I'd like to get more into multimedia (videos...)

I've been told that XP Home Edition will be better (than XP Pro) for my needs since it apparently is more tuned to running games...

Is this true and therefore is it my best choice for updating my PC?

    Hello Gemo,

Start here with a comparison of features between the two http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_home_pro.asp

As far as games are concerned, don't know whether one better than the other, or even if it would make a difference. By your description of how you will use XP, I would think Home would be fine.

    Regards - Charles

    Another thought on WinXp upgrade...

Another thing to consider is system requirements. WinXP is alot more demanding than Win98 (IMO). Check the requirements HERE . There used to be a hardware compatibility wizard, but I couldn't locate it... sorry. If your computer can handle XP, once you get used to it you will really enjoy it. HTH

    B

I just found the links for hardware compatibility...
See HERE In the section "Tools for Everyone" click on 'Upgrade Advisor'.

    B  again.
