Back a while when I was trying to install Windows XP to a machine that had Windows Vista on it I had a problem booting from the Windows XP Installation CD, http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-xp/86529-installing-windows-xp-computer-windows-vista.html.

Not finding a solution from all the suggestions given I called Microsoft gave them my Product Key for verification and they said they would send me a new disk with the Windows XP Installation. They did but it was a Windows XP Pro edition.

My question is this: Since my main computer has Windows XP Home Edition and is currently networked with the Vista computer, when I replace the Windows Vista with the Windows XP Pro will I experience any problems or conflicts with the Windows XP Home Edition computer?

I have never had an XP Pro edition so I do not know the specifics of the operating system. With my XP - Vista network all I share is the printer, which is installed on the XP and prints documents from the Vista. In the past I have offered Remote Assistance from the Vista with other computers around the world but I do not use any Remote Desktop features since I am handicapped and do everything from my home. When I need to transfer files I usually do it thru the My Network Places unless the files are too big and then I use a USB Thumb Drive.

    Thanks for any information.

Maybe you will, but you should be able to over come them. Networking is pretty starightforward.

If Microsoft gave you XP Pro instead of XP Home, you're on a roll! XP Pro is a world of difference from the Home version. There are several valuable functions in the program. Once you get used to it, you'll wonder why you didn't have it years ago! I never personally owned the version, but before I had my own laptop, I used the library's and my stepson's computers with XP Home. I'll never look back and I bet you won't either. Happy computing!
