Lots of recovery programs out there.

A freebie that fits on a floppy

I've used OnTrack successfully on formatted and lightning fried drives both.

Best chance of recovering anything is to not place any more data on the drive than absolutely necessary till you're done. Right now, some of the space previously occupied by those files may still have those files, but is seen as free space. Windows will put new data in that free space. When attempting to recover anything, have it saved to a location other than the harddrive, if possible.
