    Greetings,

I checked out several threads, including the one on converting XP Files and Folders Search to be like Win2k. Until I read the thread on this issue, it never occurred to me that it might be possible to change the way XP searches for Files and Folders to be more like Windows 98. Although the XP search method was somewhat improved by the addition of certain Advanced options, I still miss and much prefer the way my Windows 98 system searched for Files and Folders. I have gone into the Registry to make changes of this type on rare past occasions, but only with very specific step by step instructions. I don't have any experience running Command lines. Is there some way that I could safely convert my XP Files and Folders Search to work more like Windows 98 (I've never used Win2k, so don't know if it's the same as 98)? If there is, please give VERY detailed instructions - lol. Thank you.

    Hi daniel..

If you want it to look just like 9x/Me/2000's search, download the "Powertoys" set from M$ and install "TweakUI ". Go to the "explorer" tab and it the "settings" column, check the box that says "Use Classic Search in Explorer ". This gets rid of the XP-like interface which you can't do just by messing with the preferences in the search panel.

    Barbara-Ann,

Thank you - I was able to download TweakUI for XP by itself, and will install right after I send this. I used TweakUI on my 98 system, but hadn't thought to look for an XP version. Thanks again.
