On my new computer I have a hard drive selector switch where I have 3 hard drives. I have a hard drive on my old Aptiva IBM runniing win 98 and took that hard drive out and installed in on this computer which is a 1.6 Mhz
with Win XP home installed. The hard drive I installed has Win 98 on it. and is running good. I just hooked it up, left all the accessories hooked up and ran it. It found most of the new hardware when I used C:\windows\options\cabs as the source disk. But I have the other drivers on a CD rom for this computer and could install the drivers except both CD Rom drives are disabled. How can I get the CD Roms to work so I can install the rest of the drivers.

Second problem: I am stuck with a VGA monitor with just 16 colors. I have a driver for the monitor on a floppy disk and tried to install it. All I get in device manager under monitors is the driver for the vga monitor and with using the monitor regular driver from my floppy I was able to get it listed as install. But I cannot get this new driver activated. I try to update the driver and it always returns to the old vga driver. How do I get windows to use this driver, and how can I get drivers to my cd and dvd drives.

    Thanks, Jerry

I would boot the computer with a boot floppy, and use this command at the prompt to run setup.
    c:\windows\options\cabs\setup
    Have the Product Key handy.
