XP Discover.exe file "Problem"

"Discover.exe file

Can anyone please tell me what MS Discover Drop & Play System is?
I'm getting error messages everytime I log onto my HP desktop.
I close out of the error message and it doesn't seem to have any negative effect on my computer at all.

Error signature
AppName: discover.exe AppVer: 3.21.2005.926
ModName: discover.exe
ModVer: 3.21.2005.926 Offset: 000462de "

I found this post from last year and I am having the exact same problem. Has anyone found a cure to eliminate the error notice:

DISCover Drop & Play System Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
