I am having an intermitent problem with the clock since I instaled Xp. The time set to Mountain and jumps ahead two hours on it's own. Resetting it does not help. Thanks.

Double click on the time in your system tray, then go to the Time Zone tab and select the correct time zone for your area. It is resetting (ahead 2 hours) on your PC due to XP's auto time updates, which is updating according to teh Time Zone settings you have specified in the area i just mentioned.
