Just did an UPGRADE from 98SE to XP Home Edition last night. So far it seems to be working pretty well. Using the 30 days before activating just to make sure.

I know down the road I will definitely do a CLEAN INSTALL. People have said XP installs from the CD. Do I just put in the XP CD, select CLEAN INSTALL and go from there...formatting, partitioning, etc?

    Hello AceH,

"Do I just put in the XP CD, select CLEAN INSTALL and go from there...formatting, partitioning, etc? "

    You got it.

However, it does carry consequences - Have to re-do all your settings and have to back up all your user files. Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious.

    Regards - charles

The directions once you get setup started are clear. You don't need to partition the drive or format it ahead of time. The directions for that are part of setup, too.

You may need to adjust your BIOS settings to allow booting from CD, or if you'd prefer to stay out of the BIOS, you can use the 6-floppy method to start setup:

Or, you can use this modified ME startup floppy to get things started:
