XP CD Key In Registry

    Where is the XP Cd Key stored in the registry?

    Can I tell him where it is OR would it be legal to tell him where it is ??

    The binary code can't do him or anyone any good anyway.

    It's just a key!

    It's just a registry key for all to see (if he has full permissions). Why doesn't he just do a search in the registry for his registration number that's listed under System Properties - 'Registered To'? It's not like it's all hidden, is it?


    Note Admin: because that is not your CD-key.

    A XP CD key has this format: 00000-00000-00000-00000-00000
    The key in your registry (Product ID) can't be used to install from the CD, and has this format: 00000-000-0000000-00000
