    XP Built in FireWall????????

I am showing that my built in firewall in services is stopped, and I cant seem to get it started. I have check marked it in services.msc and in startup but still to no avail I cant seem to get it running.

What am I doing wrong? I am new to XP as I have always used WIN98SE and this is a whole new beast to me.

    Regards,
    FireDancer

you start the firewall up specifically for each network device... so :)

    Start >> Settings >> Network Connections >>
Right click on the connection you want to set the firewall up for, and then click "Properties "

Now click the "Advanced" Tab, then just check the little box next to...

"Protect my computer or network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet "

    Then click OK! :)

    Hope this helps!

have you tryed setting it to automatic startup in the service.msc thingamadoodle ?

right click on the service >> properties, then set startup type to "automatic ". I dunno if you will have to restart, but you may!

    Here ya go

Windows could not start the Ipv6 internet connection firewall on local computer. If this is a non Microsoft service contact the vendor. and refer to the service specific error code 2147014849.

This is getting to be a drag!!!!! thanks for your replys

then i tihnk that must be a seperate firewall, and when you enable it as i said above then it is enabled for that device, take no notice of what the services say ;)

maybe a second oppinion wouldnt go amiss !
