When I boot up computer it stops at "Verifing DMI Pool Data ". It says:

MAC AdDress in APC and EEPROM Failed!
Press [F1] to continue, Please Input Address Next Time!

Of course I press F1 to continue. In the BIOS there is an entry for the
"SIS-900 Mac Address Input ", if I knew the address I would most certainly
enter it and maybe this problem would go away.
My computer: Soyo P4S Dragon Ultra Mobo Mdl. SIS-645
    Intel 2.4B GB Processor
    INVIDIA GeForce4 MX440 64MB
    Western Digital 40GB HDD
    Physical Memory 512MB
    SIS-900 on board LAN
C-Media 6 channel on board sound

This computer is networked using SIS-900 on board ethernet.

Thanks for any help you can give me.................................Lennie

Suggest you install new battery for the MoBo, according to directions in your manual.

total guess work here as i don't know if it's the NIC mac they're looking for but ... boot the machine, start/run CMD and type in IPCONFIG /ALL and u'll get the MAC addy for the NIC there

Sounds to me like the DMI error is a boot problem and the computer bios is then defaulting to a network boot and then giving you the second MAC error. Many machines will try a network boot if it fails to find a bootable drive, so unless you do want a network boot I would say concentrate on the first DMI error.

If you can boot from a floppy or CD ok then concentrate on the hard drive. If not then other hardware or bios.

Disable onboard NIC in the BIOS and it should be able to boot.

I tried replacing the battery, but it didn't work. Will try the other suggestions
from Mattman, skeet6961, and McTavish. As for Decrypter's suggestion, if I
disable NIC I want be able network the computer in question. Thanks to all.

That would be a good test that your HDD and OS are still intact. I have seen DMI Pool Data problems that have stemed from the HDD. I would check by disabling it and if the HDD and OS are OK, then enable it again. At the same time you would have confirmed that the problem was with the NIC.

Do you have any spare PCI NIC cards? I always seem to have around 5 spares  . They are quite cheap to buy and may save going through the whole ordeal again in the future (probably as soon as you have forgotten how you fixed it :D )

Your onboard NIC might be on the fritz. I would suggest using a card if possible. Just to rule out your NIC.

XP boot stops at "Verifying DMI Pool Data "

Well today is Saturday and I'm back on my computer problem. Mattman, you are correct. I had to break down my computer to get to the back of my mobo to get a "NID" number, and enter it in the Bios. Computer boots right
    through now.
Thanks for all your responses, and have a good weekend. Lennie

Some bios have an option to backup up the settings, if not, there are utilities to do so. Suggest making a backup or write down the mac address and other important info and secure it somewhere, just in case may need it in future.
