    I made a second partition on my hard drive to put vista as a second os. I rebooted from cd and it copied the setup files to drive and then give a error message that my bios was not compatible. so I removed the the new partition. I'm still getting a menu for windows xp or setup when booting. How can I get rid of this menu?

    This has happened to me also.

    There is a folder under C:\Windows that must be deleted. It is a folder that is put there during the setup process and is there so that if the setup is interrupted, it can restart.

    Also you must edit your boot.ini file to remove the added entry for the setup.

    My boot.ini looks like this:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=3
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut
