Hi all... I have searched these forums and couldnt find any help so I figured it was ok to post a new thread..lol..

Im having a problem with XP pro automatically installing devices upon bootup...I would like to know if there is a way to turn this off so it will allow me to install the drivers of my choice, rather then the drivers XP will install...In particular, even when I have installed the software to my SB Live sound card, or any USB device, it shows in the device manager that the drivers running these devices are the winXP drivers when I would rather use updated drivers I have downloaded. I am hoping, that if I can disable this feature, I can then install the drivers I want, then connect the device and allow it to run off my specified installed drivers, not the XP drivers.

So if anyone can enlighten me with the information to diasble this feature, its greatly appreciated.

    Thanks :)

You can try the following, but you must be logged in as Administrator.

Right mouse click on My Computer and select Properties > Hardware Tab > click on Driver Signing button and select/check Ignore, now click OK. > then Device Manager Tab and find the device you wish, to accept the driver of your choice. > Right click on the device and select Update Driver.

    Good luck! ;)
