Something happened to my attributes. I have a RW CD. When I copy from the RW drive to c: it says "read only ". I right click to properties, unclick the "read only" box, check the bottom for all files and folders. It does its thing. Then I go back to c:, right click on the folder and it says "read only" files again. I then right click to properties, do everything again, it does what it should do. Then right click to properties again and it still says "read only ". How can I make XP do what it should do ?

XP for some reason always has the folder attributes set to read only. At least on mine it's always been that way. Just open the folder and select all of the "files" in the folder (ctrl+a) , right click on one of them>properties and remove the read only attribute. Then close things and reopen and see if the read only attribute is still removed from the files. If so, don't worry about the read only thing on the folder itself. I don't know why the folders are that way but it's never caused me an ounce of trouble and I've just come to accept that that's the way it wants to be so what do I care. As long as it causes me no problems. :) ;)

I kind of figured it was do to something like that (MS article). I'll not bother with the work around though. Things work fine the way they are. :)
