:( I've done several windows updates (click link that takes me to web site and auto searches for new updates) and it keeps saying I have one avail to update:
Intel Net Driver vs 3.40.340.00, Released Sept 20, 2001.
I've already installed this update and it keeps finding in the search and showing I still need it. Even when i go to page showing list of installed updates it shows it listed there.
I've used on this XP few times the "System Restore" and thought this may be making the web site think I have not yet installed, tho I have. I even tried re-installing several times and get same error: "install failed- try to reinstall "
SYSTEM INFORMATION shows INTEL name, but not vs. no.
DIRECTX shows same, no version no. so I cannot confirm it's really installed, nor install this, nor stop it from thinking I need to install, when it won't. Any ideas?

Dont' worry, I get the same error on my XP. I've also install that same Intel drive from the update site and it keeps coming back. It's only a NIC driver, and if your current driver is working fine w/o any bugs, why change it.
Also you can find your driver version on the driver tab of your NIC on the Device Manager.

I get the same thing with my modem driver. I have the current version installed but MS Update says I still need it. I just ignore it.
