A friend has a PC running XP with 64MB of Ram consisting of 4 SIMMS- Internet access is nigh on impossible with hang ups during downloads and self disconnects and overall very slow and patchy programme operation. I could be wrong but suspect that this could be memory related. As well as the 4 SIMM slots he has 2 DIMM slots. Could we take out the SIMMS and just put in 2 (say) 128MB DIMMS to improve the situation?

Download Everest and determine what the motherboard is - then go to www.crucial.com and run the board through the Memory Selector to find out which memory is suitable.

Win XP needs at least 256 Mb to function anything like well and 512 Mb is much better.
