I am trying to install a Xerox DocuPrint P8ex printer using using BAFO USB Parallel Printer Cable (model num BF 1284) to Hi-Grade Notino R5400 notebook running Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1. It found it in "Found new hardware" but gave "A Problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly..." message. I then tried Add printer and ran a test page and it gave "This document failed to print
Document name : "Test Page" The printer then Printer had response by flashing the Green Light and after waited for 3 Minutes, Only 3 Sentences were printer on the test page. Any suggestions....Thanks.

Went to Xerox and they do not show any drivers for your printer for XP. From that I don't think the printer will work in XP.

I have dealt with these Parallel-usb converter cables before.

They work well with Dot Matrix and more simple ink/lasers.

Different brands of the cables sometimes work when others won't.

To test that the printer will even work with XP you should install it directly to the XP Parallel port using a bi-directional Parallel cable.

If it does not work here it will for sure not work on USB!

If it does work then you may have more luck getting you other printer to work with the usb-Parallel cable.

As far as the driver! Russ confirmed no XP driver! If no driver for XP is listed then hope for one for Win2K. Only try the win98 as a last resort.

If you have been using a win98 or unknown driver version and you can find a W2K driver. Make sure to completely remove the old driver before going back to the W2K version
