Don't laff... here's a really basic question: exactly what does x32 or x64 mean? I thought it related to size of T/R bit packets, but I can't find this in my sys specs,,,,how do I find what my PC is rated for? I'm running VISTA on a Gateway Mdl: GT5408 PC... tx

    x32, x64 and remember x86!

One of the interesting 'short-hands' these days is the usage of x86 by many folks to represent x32.

x86 is the traditional Intel driven category of CPUs. Until the last few years, it was all 32-bit. THEN, the 64-bit stuff came from Intel and AMD and they discuss their new x64 architectures and processors. So, for a while I remember lots of confusion about software that came in two versions: x86 or x64 compatible! Humm, so, moving today, you MAY seem some references to x86 (that usually means 32-bit), while x64 always means 64-bit (and usually implies Windows Compatibility)

Lastly, some folks use x86 to represent ANY processor that can run Windows. 32-bit or 64-bit. Curious huh?
