Hi, in MS paint all the text(dialog boxs, buttons, toolbars) is in german, this is the only program like it.

Did this just happen over night?
Did you install any language packs?

all files in a certain user all file lost their owner, after that was fixed, the language for every user changed to german, and no language packs have been installed.

Can you uninstall mspaint and reinstall it using the xp cd? This is done via the add/remove program icon in the control panel and using the windows componenets tab.

If that doesn't work I ran across this:
    http://www.archivum.info/microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support/2005-10/msg03560.html

This happens if the file MFC42LOC.DLL is present in the System32 folder. To resolve the problem, rename the file MFC42LOC.DLL present in the C:\Windows\System32 folder (for Windows 2000/XP systems) and C:\Windows\System (for Windows 9x systems)
