    Im going crazy here!

I have a 17" HP Pavilion dv9000, its one of those with a numpad on the right hand-side.

My problem is when im supposed to use the numpad, i need to push my num lock button (ofc) but when i do this my buttons turn into numbers aswell like on most of the 15" with no numpad.

This started after HP changed my graphic card (doesent really matter).

I'v tryed most things like: deleteing my keyboard driver, updating bios (HP sugestion) and some other things but it dont seam to work.

Any über leet haxer that have any idea what this might be?

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

You should list what you have tried so that we don't waste time suggesting it again.

In the BIOS settings, there should be one for enabling the Num Lock at startup.

Check through all the settings in Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options.

17 "(?) should it be set as a "standard" 101/102 keyboard? You may need to use the Add Hardware wizard, deselect the standard options and look for a HP dv9000 (is that the keyboard model?) in the list of drivers.

Look through the list in Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Is there a listing relating to your keyboard? You could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it from the drivers supplied with your computer, or looking for drivers at HP
    www.hp.com/support

Check information about sharing resources. See if something about the keyboard is sharing resources with the graphics.

    Matt

    Full Product information:
    http://tinyurl.com/5kslkt

    Things i'v tryed:

    - Downloading driver from HP support.
    - Tryed most of the NumLock in the BIOS.
    - Tryed some different keyboards on Regional and Language Options.
    - Deleting the keyboard thats standard now (Standard PS/2 Keyboard) and then restarting, when i start it up again it works for a short period of time until the driver for the keyboard is installed (sounds like a driver problem).
    - Updating BIOS
    - No related softweare in the Programs and Features

17" as in 17 inch screen

    hi Ru9,

I've got to say the google web hits don't look very favorable for finding a solution but you may find a work around that you can live with. For example:

Note the work around suggested in this thread.
    http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/troubleshooting/4991-numberpad-hp-dv9000-2.html

This sounds promising if you don't reboot: (may wish to post to this board and see if the person would share exactly what he did and where, in the registry, he did it.)
    http://www.techsupportforum.com/har...ping-numbers-after-service-pack-1-update.html

Google topics that you may wish to click, skim through and view just to give you an idea of what others have done in an effort to fix what is, apparently, a common problem with your particular model of Pavilion. Unfortunately the fix most often used was a return to HP for repair or exchange. Sorry.

    This is group hits:
    http://groups.google.com/groups/search?hl=en&q=Pavilion+dv9000+keyboard+numpad&qt_s=Search+Groups

This is web hits which require a bit more sifting to find pertinent topic:

    Your most welcome Ru9.

Please do keep us updated if you get this nuisance fixed, or if you find a good work around that you can suggest to, at least, make it manageable. I certainly hope your luck and final outcome is much better than those that I've read about.
