writing shows up but not the adds or pictures...just x's In their place In outlook 6

Outlook Express not opening messages right When I download my mail...there are X's In place of the photos In my e-mails. I don't mean photos that people send but the ones that come with the e-mail for advertisments.

 

There are several possibilities.

Most advertising email does not include the graphics in the message. They're like web pages...loading the images when you open the page or, in this case, message. If you have OE set to disconnect after sending and receiving mail, it won't be able to download the graphics when you open a message because, of course, it disconnected from the net.

Another possibility (unlikely) is the message was sent using CMYK color format. OE needs the RGB color format. (From MS KB article Q246186)

The only other possibility I've found so far is that the message was sent through AOL, which has a strange and proprietary email system. (From MS KB article Q274291)
