Resolved WPA vs WPA2 wireless network-How do I check which I have?

    How do I check to see if I'm using WPA2 vs WPA?

    Check your router setup - usually under Security. Don't know what kind of router you have, but, for example, mine is a Belkin. On the address line in a browser, I type 192.168.2.1
    That gets me into mine. Yours may be different, check the documentation.

    Under security mode it says WPA/WPA2

    It's a D-Link DIR-628

    Your router is capable of working with both WPA & WPA2.

    For original Win XP & upto SP2, the only choice is WPA. Later versions can use either WPA or WPA2. Since you are using Win 7 & your router is WPA2 capable, you are almost 100% using WPA2. The best place to look for would be your wifi adapter under "Network & Sharing Center ".

    Windows 7 will tell you. Click on the Network connections icon, this will show you the available networks. Hoover the cursor over your network & it'll tell you all you want to know:

    Arie - Thanx for the info, I knew in XP and below you could do almost the same but I didn't know about it in 7
