My wife and I have virtually identical PowerSpec desktops, W 10Pro that are 6 or 7 years old now. I have considered replacing them in the next year or so. My wife's memory (hers - not the computer) and computer abilities have diminished considerably over the past couple of years and I find my self now maintaining 2 separate computers. My question is - would it be feasible for me to go to a work station set up in this situation. Or, would I be better off just getting two new PCs?
Follow on question - If I did go the workstation route, are there significant setup hurdles and do the satellite units connect directly to the workstation?

You didn't say what you use the computers for but most people don't need workstations. If me in your situation, I would go for two PCs for several reasons - but probably the most important being it would be easy to compare one with the other in the event something happens to one. Plus, there is a learning curve involved so it would be much easier on you to learn just one.

What you are talking about are the "dumb" terminals. They don't have the horsepower but instead connect to another computer where all the processing etc is done. If you go this route, you would have 3 computers instead of 2 to worry about. That's the way computing was done in mainframe days.
Until & unless you are doing very heavy processing like CAD/CAM/simulation for living you don't need a workstation class computer.

Thanks to you both. Don't think I'll add something I don't need. Sounded like a possibility until I ran my reality check through this Board.
