Just installed Win98SE on my Dell Latitude. Works fine, but
no audio. So I downloaded and installed the WDM driver for
    my ESS Maestro2E.
Now the Win98 Device Manager states 'This device is working
properly' but none of my audio applications can see a sound
    card.

Seems like Win98 isn't accepting the Maestro2E as my default
sound card, even tho Device Manager thinks it's installed OK.

    Help!

have you run DirectX diagnostic? (dxdiag in your windows\system directory)...are the tests successful?
