I a have 12 computers in a peer-to-peer workgroup. Most of them are win2k. The user of each computer wants to have their own login username and password. The problem with this is that with the win2k computers, i can't get the computers to allow access to each other without the person trying to access the other computer to type in a recognized username/password for the computer its trying to access. I tried adding computername\username to the Local security policy-Access this computer from the network. But what happens is the effective policy setting remains unchecked. I don't want to open up the computer to anyone, but i want "user" on "computername" to be allowed automatic access without a person having to type in a username password. Can anyone help me with this, thanks

Make sure each user logs on with a username and a NON-BLANK password. Things will work better that way.

Adding each username/password to the local users section of every NT/2K/XP PC will do the trick.

If you are comfortable with slightly less security, enable the Guest account on each PC and then any login will work.

Any 9x PCs you have will also need to be logging on with a username and password if they need to access an NT system.

Only if you operate a domain controller and the users are using a domain logon.
