    Hi
Since forever I have dragged and dropped into Wordpad, I have also pasted into Wordpad. What have I done wrong? I can no longer drag or paste into Wordpad.
Could I have deleted a critical file? I would appreciate an answer
    Thanks
    Lewis

    It's a bit particicular...

The following snippet is taken from http://twcny.rr.com/technofile/texts/bkwordpad97.html and may explain why you are having a problem with OLE (drag and drop) into WordPad...

...[there is] an oddity in the way WordPad operates when you drag the icon of a file to its open window and drop it there. Most simple word processors and text editors open the dropped file no matter where you let go of the button. In other words, you can drag the icon anywhere onto the program window and let go; the text is then opened in the window. But WordPad adheres to Microsoft's primary standard of object linking and embedding (OLE, pronounced olay), in which objects that are dropped on the menu bar (or any other solid part of the window frame) are opened, while objects that are dropped within the window are embedded.

That said, onto the other problem...

Regarding the inability to cut / copy / paste to WordPad from other applications... could you be more specific? Are you using right click on mouse, the EDIT menu at top or the CTRL-shortcut keys to do the pasting? If you are using menus (EDIT at top or right-click of mouse) does the PASTE option appear grayed out?

    Hi lancer
It used to be I could hi-lite any text from any window, left click and drop it into wordpad's window and it was there. This method still works in notepad. I could copy and paste from any window into wordpad, still can into notepad. I am wondering what happened
