When dividing the page two columns in Word 97, is there a way to make these two columns independently from each other.

i.e. if i hit the Enter Key in the first column, all the text in the second column will remain where it is and not move down a line as well.

    thanks

Try using a table instead of columns. Each cell in the table can be formated independently from the other. For two columns create a 1 row X 2 column table.

thanks people for your info. but I was just curious if that was possible. Actually, I tried the column break and it worked fine with text but when i tried to place an image on the left column and a table to the right column the column break didn't worked perfectly.

    thanks again!
