    Hello

We've come across an interesting problem with default dictionaries in Word XP (2002). The US English language has been deleted from within Office Tools - Language so that Office is set to UK English. Within Word everything is set to default to UK English. However when a documant is spell checked both the US and UK English dictionaries are used. The drop-down box for selecting language within spellchecker is no longer there as Office has only one language set via tools. (I hope this all makes sense!)

So my question is does spellchecker always include US English whatever is selected in language tools or the application itself?

    Thanks and Merry Xmas!

What Regional Language Option is set for the OS?

What Office SP are you running?

    Hi Newt

The OS regional settings are set to UK. The Office install is an 'administrative install' and is installed when the user logs on to a pc for the first time, according to their login script. I'm quite certain it will be vanilla ie. no service packs (I will double check after Xmas).

    Cheers

Our is too but the SP was added and auto-updates to SP2.

I think there were some spell check mods made with SP1 & SP2 so you might want to get at least one updated and see if the problem vanishes.

    If not, post back.
