I am trying to use MS Word 2007 and Outlook 2007 with Windows7 Pro 32 bit on a brand new Levonvo T500 laptop.
I can not use the mouse cursor to select text or to even place the cursor into the text by clicking the mouse on the text.

I can use the mouse to control for all other functions and program commands (Select Bold, Bullets, etc.). I can use the keyboard to select text (Shift+ <- or ->) and navigate within the text document.

I tried repairing Office 2007, as recommended, with Uniblue Registry Booster to clean up the registry. I also tried the Vista fix located at http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/39390-cant-select-text-word-2007-vista.html. To summarize this fix:
    - Locate Word\Data part of the Registry
    - Delete the the Word\Data section
    - Restart Word
but none of these fixes resolved the issue.
    :(

RESOLVED ISSUE - I found the solution at Windows > Windows Forums > Windows 7 Forums > Programs > Why can't I move the Word 2007 insertion point cursor or highlight
text or pictures with the mouse after I type text when using Word 2007 on Windows 7 64-bit? Mouse not working in Word.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Password Vault program has a bug which causes this MS Word 2007 and Outlook 2007 issue. It is easily resolved by changing the Password Vault Preference for Enable hot keys to NOT SELECTED.
