word 2002 mail merge with images too large

How can I do a mail merge to 150 addressees of a letter with photos in it? It's turned out to be 169 megs and too big for the printer to cope with. Even the PDF printer driver can't handle the job.

The master letter has six photos, none more than 100 k each. This document is 423 k. Obviously the merged document size is a result of each image multiplied by the number of pages/addressees. This computer doesn't have any graphic software installed on it so resizing the images manually isn't an option.

I'm sure I'm not the only person ever to produce a mail out with graphics in it - what do others do in this situation?
