Having a problem with my Windows 98 SE machine.
    I'm running Microsoft Word 200 9.0.2720

Anyone have any problems with word locking up their
machine? I'm not sure if it's related to file size or what.

I open a fairly large file (110KB). I click File menu, followed by
print command. The print dialog box opens. I click the properties
button and choose the setup tab. I click the "best" button (for
best print). I click OK..and at this point my machine locks up.

I still have the mouse cursor, but cannot do anything (not even
start button works). I use keyboard alt+delete. It shows the
word process as "not responding ". I cannot kill it. The only
way out is a hard reset (with reset button).

ANY help would be much appreciated for this most frustrating problem.

    Hmmm could be printer

It only freezes when attempting to print from open word doc? Try this, find the name of the document in a folder Example: rancher.doc now right click & select print without opening the document!

You might want to run the Detect and Repair feature under the Help menu in Word.

Had a similar problem a while back and that's what fixed it for me, that and emptying the c:\windows\temp folder
