I have a workstation with WinXp Home Edition, and nothing will open maximized for some reason is there a setting or Reg. entry I need to change for this somewhere. Basically I want all windows/folders/programs to open maximized and none of them will do it now. For some reason EVERYTHING opens in a small window.

I can do that for shortcuts, but what about folders? I'd like to do what that program does all in one shot, but I don't wanna pay $10. I shouldn't need to go to every program and every file and every shortcut and change them individually. I would assume this is a registry fix.

win should remember the state of any prog at closing. eg - max it, close it and it should open MAXed next time. least this works for all progs i use.

should have said - almost maxed ;) ... ie for instance will not do max on open but .. if u size the window to almost full screen, it will return to that size when close/opened. careful on pop up here as they often are the last window closed and will 'set' the size state to remember.

this is driving me nucking futz!

OK here's an example - I open microsoft Word, it opens in a little box, so I Maximize it, Close then re-open and its in a small window again as if I had clicked the "restore down" button. When I right-click on the link in my Start/Programs menu and look at properties it says Run Maximized" but it doesn't run maximized. I don't have this issue with my other PC's i have full control of the windows on them.
Everything was fine before and opened in a full window but for some reason now EVERYTHING opens in small windows now. Including Applications, Folders, Recycle Bin, etc...

    jim532 ...

Have you tried resizing your windows manually, rather than with the resize button in the upper right corner? Drag the titlebar of the window you want to resize to the upper left corner of your screen, then drag the lower right corner of the window to the lower right corner of the screen. After that, hold the Ctrl key as you click on the close button in the upper right corner. This will usually work.

If not, there's a free utility called AutoSizer which should do the job for you. It has several window-handling options, including Maximize, Minimize, Restore, Center, and Resize.

Try this...right click on the Taskbar and look for "Undo Tile." If it's there, click on it.

Open a window that usually open small. Maximize it if needed, close it, open it again and see if it opens full size.

If that works, you'll have to maximize each window one more time.
