I wanted to set Windows Media Player to open .wmv files in N7.1
Under Helper Applications, I put "video/x-wmv" in "MIME type ", and a path to WMP in "Open it with ", but it doesn't work.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi broni,

What Version of WMPlayer are you running?

Mozilla PluginDoc has some information about the WMPlayer plugin here:
    http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/important.html#WMP

FWIW, I use the IrfanView IV_Player, for WMV files.

    I tried Irfanview plugin...no-go.
I can save that file to my HD, and it plays. It won't play from Netscape.

    Hi broni,

When I set up IV_Player in Helper Applications for WMV files, these are the settings I used:

    MIME Type: video/x-ms-wmv
    Description: Windows Media Video File
    Extension: wmv
    Open it using default application

I have selected IrfanView as the default player for wmv files within the program options.

It should be very similar for WMPlayer 7.1, and if you have set up WMPlayer as the default player for wmv files, in the View | Options (of the program) then I'm not sure why it won't work. Plugin Doc says it will (Michael Hendy).

BTW, do you have the latest Version of IrfanView, 3.85, with the latest Plugin program?

Can you give me a link that you have tried, and won't work, or is this in email? A link would be helpful in sorting this out.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Ramona :D
