Hi I wonder if anybody on here can help me as am fed up with battling with tech support in foreign country and have had help from English engineer but still getting issues and praying somebody here can help.

Right a Windows Automatic Update updated my media player to 11, everything seemed fine until I tried to use my Sonic burner to make a data cd, then got a runtime error so went to Sonic's site and found this error was due to WMP 11 so followed their instructions(as am beginner so have no idea what is right or wrong) and it told me first to re-register a dll so clicked on their link and it installed something and my pc crashed, black screen computer reset and no windows error report so went to look in event viewer and that said this(this is my latest one after a total reformat)
Ftdisk error on 29th July at 10:23:46
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Ftdisk
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 49
    Date: 29/07/2007
    Time: 10:23:46

    Computer:
    Description:
Configuring the Page file for crash dump failed. Make sure there is a page file on the boot partition and that is large enough to contain all physical memory.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
    Data:
    0000: 00 00 00 00 01 00 56 00 ......V.
    0008: 00 00 00 00 31 00 04 c0 ....1..À
    0010: 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
    0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
    0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

I got this error message the first time after the re-registering of the dll so as that caused this problem I uninstalled the WMP 11 and it rolled it back to WMP 10 and then this same error message appeared a few days later so contacted HP as PC only 11 months old at the time, they gave me links to 2 WMP security patches and clicked on them and only second one would install, first said running pack newer than the patch...
Still I got this error message in total got it 5 times in under 3 weeks so was advised to try making a new user account, did this still got the error message so then they advised to reformat the hard drive completely which I did roughly 2 weeks ago and on 29th July I got this error message again whilst I was downloading and installing a package for Sims 2 game, there was no virus or anything in the pack as it was from a friend and she had sent it to me via email as I'd lost the file.

Does anybody know how to clear this problem as have done everything they told me to do and they said reformatting it would fix it which clearly seems it doesn't. Have installed the WMP 10 patch that does install and touch wood not done it again since but would love to know what this means and how to fix it as PC is driving me crazy only just 13 months old and has had new hard drive, graphic card, video memory, power supply and motherboard in it and it still isn't working right

Hi, Simreaper. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

This may not solve your issue but the Resolution steps in the following Microsoft KB article might enable your computer's ability to create a crash dump (which might be helpful in diagnosing the problem).

Microsoft KB226448: Event ID 49 Is Logged After Adding Random Access Memory
    (I added the underlines.)

Then follow the instructions in this link so you're prepared to create a DebugWiz-generated dump log next time your computer crashes. You should run DebugWiz while connected to the Internet so your Windows Debugging Tools can retrieve the proper "symbols ".

After generating a dump log, you can paste the contents into this thread. We have only one dump analysis expert that I know of (cpc2004) in recent months who occasionally stops in to help. Maybe we'll be lucky and find a quick fix. :)

    Sorry been offline since crash

Thanks ever so much for replying and I checked and my virtual memory is set to 1.5 times the memory, looks as if they set this up when they did the last repair.
However I hadn't read that link you gave me for the debugging crash reader thing so have saved the page and will download that as tower is waiting for courier to pick it up for yet another repair so praying this is going to be last one. Actually might not put the internet back on it might keep it on my 3 year old laptop as it has happily taken my Norton this morning.

Thank you so much for the help and sorry took a while to reply.

    Simreaper.
